Says time is over for errors of the past. «Let president Biya know that what he has done is great for the North West».
That was the message as a spontaneous crowd of Bamenda inhabitants took to the streets of the city last night immediately the name of Philemon Yang, their illustrious son emerged as the new Prime Minister of Cameroon. In split seconds the junction into the City council was full with traffic interrupted as the placard carrying crowd started the 4 km march through Ntarinkon, Hospital Round About, Food Market, Commercial Avenue, Ayaba Street, Veterinary Junction, Ngeng Junction and onto the neighbourhood of Up Station where they were received at 7:30 p.m. by Governor Abakar Ahamat, his wife and guests. The messages were clear. «Thank you Mr President for appointing one of ours as P.M». «Thanks for renewing confidence in the North West». Congratulations H.E Yang Philemon».
In all, their minds were expressed when speaking for all, Tawah Che Crecy, an elite told the Governor that «the people are excited and thank President Biya for the wonderful gift of a Prime Minister this day. Extend our thanks to the President for renewing confidence in our region». Nkwenti Simon, Coordinator of Civil Society organisations in the North West and one of the front line organizers of the march said «We are grateful for the appointment of Philemon Yang our son. It shows that the Head of State recognizes efforts of the North West towards national life and national development. By appointing one of ours the North West recognizes President Biya's hand of reconciliation and we are determined to give him the necessary support. No more errors of the past». Meanwhile Fru Edison Ndi who featured prominently in the organization of the march said « a new era has opened for the North West and we are 100 percent behind H.E Yang Philemon».
Impressed by the spontaneous show of support for the appointment an elated Governor Abakar Ahamat said, «there is need to be proud at the promotion of a son of the North West, proud because President Biya has renewed confidence in the region. We have to deserve it and so no more errors of the past. With the appointment the North West has a great rendezvous with the future. The North West region counts and that is the why of the appointment. Cameroon has and will be built with the North West». The night was long in Bamenda with inhabitants congratulating each other for the appointment of Yang Philemon, as new Prime Minister of Cameroon.
